To start things off, can you introduce yourself to the readers?

Hi, Iím Annina Kaski, an award winning bilingual actor and writer originally from Finland who now calls London home. I have an award winning Scandi Noir style dark drama pilot Mordecaiís Girl which I wrote, produced and starred in as well as other projects in various stages of developments. You can follow my work on my Youtube channel The Awkward Actress. I bounce between comedy, dark comedy and drama in my writing.

On the acting front I've recently starred in horror short Clowns which has just been released and the horror feature film The Millennial Killer.

What is the best thing about working in horror?

Horror shoots and projects are some of the funnest experiences you can have as an actor especially if you get to play the villain. You get to let loose and play like a child. What can I say I've always been attracted to the spooky and the macabre.
Can you say anything about your movie you have been in?

Millennial Killer has a really interesting premise with an unlikely villain and you could say my character had it coming. ;-)

What inspired you to be an actor?

My mum enrolled me in stage school at the age of 9 to have a few hours of peace to herself so we have her to blame. I've wanted to be an actor since I was 11 years old when I realised you could pursue acting as a fulltime career. I adore storytelling in all its forms and started writing as well roughly 5 years ago.

How did you prepare for the role?

Preparation for each role is slightly different but first and foremost I try and figure out the character I'm playing, get into their head. How do they see the world? What drives them? What do they want? How are they similar to me? And of course you work with the director in the character building process.

Can you tell us about the greatest moment in your film career?

So far winning a Silver Award in the Best Actress in a Drama for my role as Leila Dahl in Mordecai's Girl has been my biggest career highlight. As an actor you face so much rejection it can be hard to keep on track and believe in yourself at times. Winning an award for my acting performance was even more special seeing as it was a project I also wrote and produced myself. It's proof I'm on the right path.

What are some of your upcoming projects?

I'm currently looking for producers and fundraising opportunities so I can make more episodes of Mordecai's Girl. There's so much more story to tell.

What was the project you learned the most from?

Definitely Mordecai's Girl as it was the first script I ever wrote and the first time I was involved behind the camera on a screen project as well.

What is the last horror film you saw? What did you think of it?

I'm glad I got the chance to see Saint Maud in the cinema before the second lockdown here in the UK. Brilliant slowburn indie horror.

What is your favorite horror movie and why?

Such a hard question but I adore the first Saw film. I especially love psychological horror. The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Purge and Hellraiser also come to mind.

If you could work with any actors or actresses who would they be and why?

Oh the list is so long but Judi Dench and Meryl Streep spring to mind first.

Where can we find out more about you and your work?

You can follow my work on my Youtube channel The Awkward Actress and my website On social media I'm @anninakaski

What is your personal definition of horror?

The fear of what might happen. The fear of the unseen.

Favorite country or place?

I'm a wanderer at heart but I love London and also have a soft spot for New York. I can't wait to travel more to discover new places.

Did you know anything about Sweden?

Why, yes. Sweden is Finland's neighbour. The Finnish are the crazy neighbours you want to avoid. I've visited Stockholm.

Anything else you want to mention?

Make sure to check out Mordecai's Girl if you like very dark ScandiNoir.
