To start things off, can you introduce yourself to the readers?

My name is Sparkle Soojian (it really is) and I just completed season one of Strange Files. Michael S. Rodriguez created a brilliant series that showcased a variety of independent short films from all over the country. I not only got to host the series but I acted in three of the films. What was great about this series is you donít have to keep track of characters, every episode youíre working with new players. This is the kind of series where you can start at the end or in the middle.

What inspired you to be an actor?

You know when youíre a kid acting as a character on a stage of make believe but you eventually grow out of it, well some of us never grow out of it. Weíre called actors. Lol. I had this big personality as a child. My parents named me Sparkle. Iíd literally be in the isle at the grocery store and Iíd tell the customers ďsee the paper towels, they were named after me.Ē Of course having a personality is only part of it. We have to learn how to control it. We canít be over the top 24/7.

Thereís never a moment you know youíre going to be an actress, it just happens and before you know it youíre doing it. At sixteen I started getting paid for both writing and acting, my two passions. It happened simultaneously. I got a job writing for a local newspaper and acting in the Blink 182 music video, All the Small Things. I wrote about the acting job for the local newspaper and just like that I had my own column. By the time I was 20 I had over a hundred articles published and had acted in both television and theater before my transition into film later in life.

What is the best thing about working in horror?

The best thing about working in Horror is when I get to play the bad guy and transform into a creature. I like giving my character depth and layers. People or creatures arenít bad just because. People usually start out good but then they go through things and become what they become. I have empathy for these characters so I love bringing them to life. I get to go places within my own psyche I otherwise would not get to experience.

What is your personal definition of horror?

My personal definition of Horror isnít necessarily something scary but more like a feeling of shock and disbelief. Itís quite literally like watching a continual train wreck. You canít believe what you are seeing yet you cannot look away. Itís different than a thriller because of the shock and disbelief factor. A thriller is just suspenseful whereas horror is so much more.

How did you prepare for the role?

What separates me from other actors is the experiences Iíve endured in my life. I can actually say Iíve gone through some things that most people will never go through. The great thing about acting is you can turn that negative into a positive because thatís what acting is, living out the worst moment of your life, the best moment of your life, the most traumatic moment of your life, the funniest moment of your life. Experiencing the unimaginable can be a blessing because it eliminates the fear that you had before.

If you could work with any actors or actresses who would they be and why?

When you ask me who I want to work with I gotta say itís Ciro Dipagio from the MobKing because like me heís had life experiences most people will never experience. I think because of life experiences we can create magic onscreen.

What are some of your upcoming projects?

What Iím looking forward to most the premiere of my feature film the Bad Seed. I play the teacher, Miss Fern in the remake of perhaps one of the greatest classic films of all time. It wouldnít be considered a horror film now but Iíd have say for its times itís probably the closest to a horror, during the Hitchcock era. It will be released soon so please follow me on my social media and I will keep you all posted.

Did you know anything about Sweden?

I am actually a quarter Swedish. My grandmother has blonde hair and blue eyes. My Armenian side obviously takes over my appearance so I donít often bring it up. But I love the Swedish culture and hope to one day visit Sweden.

Favorite country or place?

My favorite country that I visited was England. Iíve actually never been to Armenia so Iíd love to go there but right now thereís a war.

Anything else you want to mention?

Follow me on Instagram @sparklesoojian and my Facebook page Everything Sparkle. I do a lot besides acting and against my better judgment I often post it. Lol. Only a few actors make a living off of it. Most of us have other sources of income especially those of us in the horror genre. Iím also a personal trainer. I recently placed at the top 1% of a National Miss Health & Fitness competition. It was a great experience because through the process I raised thousands of dollars for charity. We documented the process on the ďSparkle Show,Ē another job of mine. I interview people from around the world that are doing big things. Itís on every Thursday at 4pm Pacific Time.
