THE EMOTIONS ARE REAL EVERYTHING ELSE IS QUESTIONABLE
Dane Granger is based off the book Dane Granger Reborn by Stephanie Hensley. She adapted the story for the screen in 2014. Filming started in 2015 and production ended in 2016. It is a twisted tale of a lesbian from a small town who fell in love with the “straight” hometown sweetheart.
The girl who owns Dane’s heart (and sanity) is Grace Harper. When Grace’s sister commits suicide Dane and Grace are brought back together and thrown into a hurricane of emotions, alcohol, sex, and bad decisions. The loss of a friend and confrontation from Grace Harper sends Dane on a self-destructive journey as she is forced to face herself, her demons, and her past. Dane has friends, both real and make-believe who try to help her keep a grip on her sanity. And on the flip side she has a darkness that feeds her anger, fears, and insecurities.
The representation of the good and the evil in Dane’s mind are brilliantly portrayed as Matty Harper (the ghost of Grace Harper’s sister) and The Faceless Man (the manifestation of Dane’s abusive father). She encounters everything that broke her in her small town when she goes home for the funeral, but she also reconnects with the part of her that died when she left many years ago.
The story of Dane is loosely based off the author’s real life experiences of being gay in a small town and loving the wrong person. We all have a darkness… Dane and Grace’s just like to play with each other’s to the point of driving them mad. This is a tale of love, loss, forgiveness, and redemption.
SHE IS BOTH MY PLEASURE AND MY PAIN…GRACE HARPER IS MY SALVATION AND MY DAMNATION

WE ARE THE MONSTERS IN THE DARK
Meet Our Cast:
Dane Granger: Frankie McKay
Dane Granger is Frankie’s first feature film. She was a performer throughout school but never took the leap to film until our feature. She has modeled for Cincinnati photographers and as be active in LGBT activities in the Cincinnati area. Don’t let her nerdy knowledge of comics, Star Wars, and Harry Potter fool you, she is a force to be reckoned with, both on and off the screen.
Grace Harper: Linda Schrader
Dane Granger is Linda’s Sophomore feature. Her first film was Night of the Dolls from HM&M Films. Linda’s confidence on screen made her the perfect choice for Grace Harper. Linda brought so much talent to the set and really made us all feel for a character that should be hated. Linda has done some modeling as well. She is also a very talented photographer, who loves her cat Mittens more than she will ever love a person.
The Faceless Man/Mr. Granger: James Liberty
This is James’s first movie. He is from Dayton Ohio and enjoys building and riding bikes. He is an outdoorsy person who enjoys hiking and taking nature photographs. James has worked with some of the music venues in the Dayton area. James also was an extra set of hands during production. He helped with the boom and set design. The only thing left to say about James is: He is a pirate.
Matty Harper: Joanna Lloyd
Joanna has been in numerous films produced in the Cincinnati and Dayton areas. She was a co-host on the DATv show Film Speak for a while. She is a veteran roller girl; she skated for Northern Kentucky’s Black n Bluegrass Roller Girls. She is of Polish decent and has some of the most interesting tattoos inked in Polish. She is a pet lover. We like to think of her as our “Kroger Brand Milla Jovovich.
Walt Smith: Brandon Saylor
Dane Granger is Brandon’s first film. Brandon is a natural on screen and delivers a stellar performance. His energy and kindness on set made the Dane experience incredible for everyone. Brandon is a lifelong (Stephanie has known Brandon since he was born. In fact he wrote her the first love note she ever received) friend of the writer. Brandon is a regular guy who likes to hit the gym and enjoy some good old comic book fun with his son. He was born and raised in Cincinnati.
Fallon: Brittney Santiago
Brittney has been in quite a few feature films. She was an extra in the indie horror film Headless and had a bigger role in 2015s Bad Fellaz. Brittany is trained in Martial Arts which makes her a fun addition to action movies! She has a Youtube show called The Lady Cave, she discusses all things nerdy and entertainment. Brittney is also a contributing writer for www.purefandom.com
Molly Hunter: Kat Perez
We were lucky enough to be Kat’s first feature. She has since gone onto to receive a speaking role in Tiger (Mickey Rourke’s 2016 boxing flick). Kat is a very talented photographer in the Cincinnati area. She works with a ton of Cincinnati’s talent on headshots. Kat is both professional and fun. (We were able to witness her dance move between takes for Dane and girl can move!) Kat is also a blogger. You can follow her adventures at www.iamkatperez.com
