Filmed in only nine days. with a budget of $20,000, PANDEMONIA is a rare example of new Brazilian horror cinema. With a more classical approach to the genre, the film presents us three girls dealing with what appears to be supernatural events that lead to an unforseen, cynical conclusion.
- 3 girls. 1 weekend. 1 book.
- Friendship hurts.
- Friendship is forever.
PLOT: Jasmim invites her two best friends, Juliana and Isabela, for a weekend alone in her late auntís cabin. Amongst wine drinking and secret sharing, they find an ancient book locked in an old wooden trunk. The girls soon find out that it is a grimoire, a book of magic spells, capable of invoking the spirits of the dead. What started out as a fun weekend ends up in an accidental journey into the unknown. The outcome of their actions will be strikingly costly for one of the girls.
- Natalia Vidal, who plays Jasmim, appears in another Brazilian horror movie: Missing, 2012.
-As a consequence of the nine-day shooting schedule, some scenes were done in a single take.
- During the filming, one specter was reported by some members of the crew. DOP remains skeptical, but director Daniel Moreno confirms that there was nobody else in the room when the take was shot.
